Rooftops, Polish Hill

"The rooftops of old Kansas City, Kansas, intrigue me. They strike such a dramatically geometric pose. I couldn't resist trying to capture the sawtooth peaks in an abstract piece that harkens Piet Mondrian."

True to the real-world inspiration, you can make out the twin belfries of St. Joseph's Church in the upper left-hand corner. The medium -- gouache -- is an opaque watercolor paint, as opposed to traditional watercolor, which is transparent.
